GS칼텍스 재단의 사회공헌사업으로서, 여수가 가진 자연의 풍광을 유지하면서 여수의 문화를 창조하는 공원을 조성한다. 대상지는 과거에 선소, 망마산 등 이순신과 관련된 여수의 관문이자 전략적 요충지로서, 현재는 바다와 육지, 그리고 섬이 만나는 자연의 절경을 뽐내는 공간이다.
여수의 섬과 바다가 만드는 풍경을 연출하기 위해 인공적인 형태나 재료를 배제하고 대상지가 가진 자연미를 부각시키는데 초점을 맞췄다. 공간계획에 있어 지형 차이를 적극적으로 활용했으며, 자연 해안선을 보전하고 경작활동으로 인한 훼손지를 복원하여 남해의 풍광을 살리고자 하였다.
여수문화공원은 처음부터 완전히 만들어진 공원이 아니라 여수시민들의 참여에 의해 삶과 시간이 묻어나며 성장하는 공원이 될 것이다. 망마산과 장도의 마주보는 천 개의 단을 중심으로 한 공원의 그린 인프라들은 시민들의 손에 의해 변화하고, 때마다 새로운 프로그램과 아이템들이 제공된다.
여수 지역의 맥락과 역사가 담긴 공원을 조성하기 위해, ‘꽃 오름 길’과 ‘바다의 정원’ 등을 통해 여수시내 및 선소와 동선을 연계했다. 또한 여수를 상징하는 자연재료와 식생으로 남해 특유의 지역경관을 연출했다.
As a social contributional business of GS-Caltex, the city of Yeosu will create a creative park with maintaining natural landscape. This site used to be a gate of Yeosu as a navy’s tactical post including General Lee’s command center and also known as SeonSo and Mangma Mountain. Today, Yeosu is in fame of great landscape and confluence area of sea, land and thousand of islands.
This project focused on creating landscape that confluence of islands and the sea, Any artificial shape or material has been excluded to produce natural landscape through the Yeosu island and the sea. In terms of plan for spatial quality, topographical difference has been positively used and tried to preserve natural shoreline. In addition to it, we restore land that has been damaged by cultivate activity so that we can recover the beauty of the Southern sea(Nam-Hae).
Yeosu cultural park is not a park that is built completely and open to the public but it is going to be a park that will be built based on the participation of citizen and will grow with their life and energy. Start with the thousand terraces between Mangma Mountain and Jang-Do, this green infrastructure will transformed and grow through people. New programs and items will be provided regularly to support this growth.
To create the park that will contain local context and history, ‘flower trail’ and ‘garden of the sea’ have been created and tried to connect downtown of Yeosu and Seonso. In addition to it, we used natural material representing Yeosu and native plants to produce Southern sea’s special character. |
